A/N: Hey sorry if this is awful but I just felt like doing this for the past hour so…
P.S. sorry if there is any misspellings I was lazy and didn’t run spell check.
Mckaylah was up in the attic searching for the Christmas lights. She was supposed to string them all over the manor today but for the spell to work she had to have the lights first which she couldn’t find for the life of her. She moved over to another medium sized box and opened the lid where she was greeted with a cloud of gathered dust. She sneezed and waved it away quickly.
She gazed down and with a shocked face she pulled out an old notebook of hers. She read the fading letters on the cover saying that these were her potions notes. Lord she had hated that class. She eagerly flipped over the cover to find that she had neglected to take any class notes and had chosen to write notes to Annie, Alice, Lily, and Adriyana who had a nickname that Mckaylah hadn’t heard for ages, oh what was it? Ally? No that was Alice’s. AGIE! That was it! Mckaylah read the neat scrawl of Annie’s and laughed. She had forgotten how mean they were to Sirius.
She gently placed the notebook to the side and reached back into the box. This time she pulled out something she couldn’t believe she had left up here for so long. “Oh my god,” she whispered to herself. How could she have put this away? It was one of the best gifts she had ever received from anyone. The card was still with it she had made sure to keep that. It was from her best friends in the entire world. They had been through so much together. On the cover of the scrapbook there was a picture of Annie and Richard, Alice and Frank, Sirius and Agie, Jamie Rali, Lyam, of course Lily and James all standing next to each other and her while Zasalamel was kissing her cheek.
She turned the page with a de ja vu feeling consuming her. A sheet of paper with her writing on it revealed itself. She sat down on the white coated floor boards and began to read her only likeable Muggle Studies essay. This was bringing back so many vivid memories that had been locked away on the shelves of her mind, pushed to the side by her day to day life.
She stood in front of the mirror fixing and re-fixing her veil and how it sat on her perfected hair. She took in a breath and adjusted her wedding dress. The silver pearls gleamed subtly on the corset and the deep purple satin trim added a pop to her dress. Everything was perfect, that’s what she kept telling herself. “Kay you look so beautiful stop messing with it!” Annie chided with a carefree tone in her voice.
“Kay, you’re getting married today!” Alice exclaimed happily fastening on her soft green silk gown and helping Annie with her purple satin dress.
“I know! I’ve been waiting for this day since I first fell in love with him. That was a year ago! I’ve waited long enough!” She laughed taking a last look in the mirror.
“Damn right you have!” Agie agreed. “I’m so happy for you; the first of the Dorkettes to get married!”
“Ya’ll aren’t going to be waiting for much longer! Lils and Annie are already engaged and we all know the rest of you girls are going to be asked soon. Guys I’m getting MARRIED!” She just couldn’t seem to say that enough. She hugged each and every one of them and then gave a group hug with a girly squeal and tears (quickly wiped away) of happiness. There was a rapping on the door.
“Who is it?” Lyam asked from inside the hug.
“It’s Sirius. Come on it’s time to go Mckaylah.” He ordered opening the door. “Wow. You look wonderful.” He said sincerely with a brotherly look in his eyes. Some how through all the taunting she had done to him they had become quite close. She kissed him on the cheek and directed him to Agie who he happily gave a passionate kiss. The music sounded and started to float through the hall. “We are now late come on everyone move it!” There was a deafening ruffle of dresses as everyone lined up. First went Annie and Richard, then Alice and Frank, third was Lyam and Remus, and last went Agie…where was Sirius? Agie walked down calmly and alone. That wasn’t supposed to happen! Then the last stanza of the music sounded and she nervously stepped toward the entrance to the hall where Sirius met her and walked her down the isle. “You little trick pulling brother!” She whispered.
“It’s my job!” He laughed. She looked up and saw Zasalamel waiting for her with glassy eyes. The steps she took seemed to last an eternity. Her breathing deepened and all she could hear was her own heartbeat.
“I love you.” He mouthed once she reached the alter. Her throat unclenched and she began to breathe normally. Even to this day whenever she was around him everything besides them disappeared.
“I love you to.” She mouthed back. “MOM ARE YOU UP HERE?” She snapped out of her thoughts.
“Yes honey.” She answered her daughter appeared next to her. She patted the spot next to her. “Sit with me.” Her 12 year old daughter for once in her life obliged with out arguing. She had a lot of her mother in her. “Sicily have I ever told you about our wedding?” She asked looking at her daughter’s hazel eyes. She had gotten her father’s eyes.
“No. I don’t think so.” She answered curiously scooting closer to the woman that gave her life.
“MCKAYLAH, SWEETIE?” She heard the voice of her husband bellow. She sighed.
“UP HERE LUV!” He climbed up the ladder.
“Well there you are have you found the lights?” She hit her forehead with her palm. So that’s what she was supposed to be doing up here! “You never were one to stay on task anyway.” He laughed when he saw her reaction. “So what have you been doing in a dirty place like this for the past two hours?” Her eyes bulged.
“Two hours? Bloody he...ck!” She caught herself. “I lost track of time! Look what I found luv.” She stood up and handed him the scrapbook.
He looked back up at her. “I remember this!” She smiled and nodded.
“I was just about to tell Sicily about our wedding. She hasn’t heard the story.”
“Well that’s a job for two people.” He said leaning down to kiss her.
“Ew, ya’ll aren’t going to get all lovey-dovey are you? ‘Cause if you are, I’m so out.” Sicily complained. Mckaylah laughed.
“Hey you, I carried you for nine months free of charge you don’t get to whine.” She mock scolded sitting back down with her husband. “Now here’s a story…”
P.S. sorry if there is any misspellings I was lazy and didn’t run spell check.
